Participated in a Matcha Experience Event

I recently participated in an event where I could experience making matcha myself.
It was a valuable opportunity to make and taste matcha, a traditional Japanese culture, with my own hands.

At the venue, I was able to experience the process of whisking matcha with a chasen (bamboo whisk),
and thoroughly enjoy the aroma, color, and taste of the matcha.

Does Water Change the Taste of Matcha?

What was particularly impressive about this experience was
the point that "the taste changes depending on the water."

Many of the main components of matcha are composed of water,
and it is said that the nature of the water used can make a difference in taste and texture.

When I actually drank it, I noticed differences in:

・Softness of taste
・Smoothness of texture
・How the aroma developed

I was able to feel the difference.

Compatibility of Super Soft Water and Matcha

Generally, Japanese water is mostly "soft water,"
characterized by being easy to drink with littleクセ (クセ, refers to unique flavors or smells that may be considered unpleasant by some).

Especially for drinks with delicate flavors like matcha,
I felt that it is easily affected by water.

By using soft water,
the bitterness of the matcha does not come out too strongly, resulting in a mellow impression.

On the other hand, with water containing many minerals,
the impression of the taste can sometimes change slightly.

Differences Felt with ONSENSUI99

In this experience, ONSENSUI99 was also used,
and its distinctive drinkability left a strong impression.

It is natural water born from the nature of Tarumizu, Kagoshima Prefecture,
and has the characteristic of being super soft water with a hardness of 1.7.

When actually using it, I felt that:

・The texture was soft
・The taste of matcha felt smooth
・It resulted in an easy-to-drink finish

These were the impressions I received.
