What is the TARUMIZU ONSEN?
Historically, a hot spring at TARUMIZU, Tarumizu Onsen, is famous for Spa Treatment, Balneotherapy, to the expectation of efficacy which are for skin disease, neuralgia, digestive diseases, diabetes, arteriosclerosis, shoulder pain and so on. The uniqueness of Tarumizu Onsen is its location, surrounded by Sakurajima, Takakuma Mountains, and Kagoshima Bay. Our ONSEN SUI 99 is produced in Tarumizu City.
The figure below illustrates the flow of the wind on September 26, 2023. Due to Kyushu being surrounded by mountains, it is evident that the wind avoids passing over the Kyushu Peninsula and instead circumvents the inland areas. As a result, in comparison to the coastal wind patterns in Kyushu, the inland areas experience a gentler flow of wind.

As the uniquness of Kagoshima, Sakurajima is located at the center of Kagoshima Bay between Satsuma Peninsula and Osumi Peninsula. Sakurajima is one of active volcano located at center of Kagoshima Bay and has daily volcanic activity delivering volcanic ash to the land of Kagoshima. The volcanic ash from Sakurajima changes direction with the seasons. From spring to summer, ash falls toward the west side of Sakurajima, which is the Satsuma Peninsula, and from autumn to winter, there is a tendency for the ashfall area to shift in the opposite direction, towards the Osumi Peninsula, where Tarumizu city is located.

Takakuma Mountains are scientifically valuable mountains and has its original forest morphology, isolated from nearby forest ecosystem. Kagoshima Bay, known locally as Kinko Bay, is also an inimitable bay. Kinko Bay is a long narrow inner bay with the average sea depth of 117m and the deepest depth is 237m. As the size of its bay, Tokyo bay is almost same size, but its deepest depth is only 70m.
Passing though the dozens of meters of strata, Shirasu Daichi (Shirasu Plateau), formed by past eruptions of volcanos, the mineral rich water welled out of the Takakuma Mountains flowing into Kagoshima Bay, Tarumizu Onsen is one of quality Onsen for the alkaline Onsen.

These include alkaline simple sulfur springs, simple sulfur springs, radon springs, alkaline simple hot springs, alkaline radioactive springs, and bicarbonate hydrogen carbonate springs.
